The YDA is a
national organization with 42 chartered states, 780 local chapters,
and 43,000 members. Membership is open people between the ages of
14 to 35, and includes both high school and college students, young
workers, young elected officials, and young families.
The mission
of the Young Democrats is to increase the participation of young
people in the Democratic Party. Based on this simple mission statement,
the Young Democrats of Connecticut have begun working toward the
following goals:
- Assist Young
Democratic candidates for Congress, Constitutional Offices, Gubernatorial,
the Connecticut General Assembly and other elected positions
- Provide
Financial Assistance to Young Candidates
- Provide
training and support.
- Promote Young
Democrats to get involved in politics through all elected offices,
boards and commission, and campaign management
- Sponsor candidate
debates
- Build strong
local chapters
- Participate
in community service projects
- Host fundraisers
in addition to networking and social events
