Lon Seidman, 26, brings an extensive background in international business and grassroots politics to the Connecticut Young Democrats.

He is a partner with The Safety Zone, LLC, an Essex-based importer of gloves and safety equipment. His various roles with the company include information technology, telecommunications, efficiency projects, personnel management, marketing, public relations, and international relations.

The company has numerous locations throughout the world, including six U.S. locations and a number of facilities in China. The company employs close to 200 people worldwide.

Shortly after graduating from the University of Hartford in 1998 (where he served as Student Body President), Lon at 22 became the youngest person ever elected to the Westbrook Board of Education.

Lon has been involved with a number of important political campaigns in the Connecticut Valley Shore region, beginning with State Senator Eileen Daily’s re-election in 1998, and continuing as campaign manager for 35th District State Representative Brian O’Connor in 2000 and his successful re-election in 2002. Lon provides information technology and consulting support to candidates throughout the state, including Shawn Fisher’s run for the U.S. Congress in 2001 & 2002.

Lon now resides in Essex, and was recently named chairman of the Essex Economic Development Commission. In 2002, he was elected to a two-year term on the Democratic State Central Committee, where he is currently its youngest member.
